Stonehaven 3 - 1 Maud

McBookie North Superleague

1st September 2018

Maud Junior Football Club

Maud: Fyfe, Thorton, Hall, Crisp, Clark, Thomson Sargent, Ritchie, Smart, Duguid, Kennedy

Subs: Hale, Grant Lawson

Maud travelled to face Stonehaven in a league match and the home side hade the first chance when Hassanein broke through the Maud defence, but Fyfe did well to get something on the ball for it to squeeze past the post. A good passing move involving 5 Maud players ended with a Thorton strike straight at McIntosh. The home keeper was again in action turning a Smart header round the post. Maud went in front when a Kennedy cross was laid off by Duguid into the path of Smart whose shot found the net. A sweeping move on the left let in Smart who wasted a glorious chance to make it 2 nil and then Haven broke down the middle and Hassanein rounded Fyfe and shot into an empty net.

  HT 1 – 1.

Maud started the second half well and Duguid had 2 shots on target, but they were straight at McIntosh. Down at the other end Fyfe kept out a header from Morrice. Maud had most of the play failed to create a goal. A Duguid free kick went well wide of the goals. Against the run of play the home side took the lead after a good run down the right and a Morrice cut back left Hassanein an easy tap in. A few minutes later a long ball down field, Fyfe came out of his box and tried to head clear, but he was robbed off the ball and left Hassenein an open goal to net his hatrick. Maud tried to hit back and near the end sub Lawson managed to put a header from 8 yards past the post. This was a disappointing result for Maud when they were made to rue miss chances in the first half.

FT 3 –1

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 8 August away v Culter in the Superleague with a 2pm ko.
