Maud made the long trek to face Shotts Bon Accord in the 2nd rd of the Junior Cup. The home side started with a strong wind at their backs. Maud wasted a free kick on the edge of the Shotts box. The home side raced to the other end and earned free kick just outside the Maud box. Danny Burns netted the free kick and minutes later it was 2 nil to the home side after Love set up Burns to net his second of the match. Mauds young winger Chicken was causing the home side lots of problems on the left. Shotts were soon brought back down to earth when a Maud corner was fumbled by Shotts keeper Johnnie Murdoch and the ball was bundled home by Lawson to give the visitors every encouragement. The home side wasted a couple of chances with Fyfe saving from Aitken and Burns firing wide from 12 yards.                                            HT 2 - 1

Into the second half and Burns charged down the left in 48 minutes and played the perfect low cross for Adam Hunter to arrive late and crash the ball into the roof of the net for the third. Burns then was played in by Steve Aitken and only a desperate lunge by a defender Clark kept the ball from crossing the line. A shot by Duguid was palmed away by Murdoch. Maud were handed a life line when Love handled in the box and Duguid sent Murdoch into the wrong corner and from looking like a 4-1 it was suddenly 3-2. Maud pressed forward, and a fierce Lawson shot was brilliantly saved by Murdoch. For a 15minute spell Maud pinned the home side back and forced a number of corners of which the last was dropped by Murdoch and after a mad scramble the home side cleared. As Maud pressed forward the home side broke and Burns shot came back off the post.  Maud could quite conceivably have got something out of this game which they deserved and played the better football on a very windy day. This was a fine performance by a young Maud team.
