North Superleague

17th September 2016

Maud: Fyfe, Scully, Reid, Simpson, Lawson Thomson, Wilson, Whyte, Smart, Ritchie, Davidson

Subs: Burr, Falconer, Crisp, Downie, McLeman

Maud travelled to face Newburgh in a league match and quickly found themselves a goal down when Burnett headed in from six yards from a Hardie free kick. A break by the away side saw Wilson whipping in a ball across the 6 yard box but there were no takers in the middle. It was soon to be 2 nil for the home side when Lawerence picked the ball up and ran 10 yards unchallenged and his shot found the bottom corner of the net. Smart had a chance but headed straight at Clark in the home goals. Fyfe got down low to his right to palm away a shot from Lawerence. Fyfe had another fine save at his near post from a shot by Burnett. Maud earned a free kick 20 yards out but it was fired wide from Wilson.

                         HT 2- 0

Into the second half and it was the home side on the attack again with a Burnett shot deflected wide for a corner.     A Ritchie shot was well held by Clark. The home side went 3 nil up when a Hardie free kick wrong footed Fyfe into the corner of the net. A fourth goal followed soon when Lawson was fouled 10 yards inside the Maud half by Marshall which the official played  on leaving the striker a free run in on goal and he calmly lobed Fyfe.       A through ball to Marshall who ran down the left and his cross was met by Burnett to side foot home. This was a very poor display by the whole Maud team and they will need a big improvement if they are to take anything from their next fixture away against Hall Russell United in Superleague match next Saturday 24 Sept 2pm ko
