Maud travelled to face Nairn St Nairn in a first-round tie. The match kicked off on a heavy park and Maud started brightly and earned themselves a few corners in quick succession, but all failed to clear the first defender. A Maud attack ended with two good blocks then a save by Kelly with his legs. McLeod brought a fine save by Reece after a through ball from Thomson played the striker in on goal. A Crisp shot was blocked as far as Mair whose first-time shot was parried clear by Kelly. Morrison and McLeod combined to create a good chance, but Morrison dragged his shot wide of the post. A Long ball forward was headed on by Mair into the path of Fraser who lobbed the keeper but went narrowly wide. Walker missed a glorious chance when a cross from Horsburgh fell at the feet of Walker who shot high from 6 yards. The home side went in front when a cross was dropped by Fyfe and Grant was at the back post to score.

HT 1–0

Fyfe was in action early in the second half when a good passing move ended with Fyfe saving from Morrison. A free kick was headed wide by Smart. Fyfe was again in action saving from McLeod. The home side doubled their lead when a Horsburgh cross was met by the unmarked Walker who came running in to head home. A Smart shot went wildly over the bar then a ball into the box was headed on by Smart over Kelly in the goal, but Taylor was at the back post to put out for a corner which came to nothing. Maud then had a big shout for a penalty waived aside by the referee. As Maud pushed forward gaps at the back were appearing and Morrison drove down the left and his cutback was met by McLeod who should have done better with his shot sailing high over the bar. In the end the first goal was crucial, and the away side failed to create many chances and it ended with a deserved win for the home side.

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 2 March Home v Hermes in the McBookie.com Superleague with a 2pm ko.
