Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Cooper, Thornton, Clark, Lawson, Mair, Thomson, Smart, Sargent, Ritchie

Maud travelled went to face League leaders Montrose and the first chance fell to Maud with a Thomson free kick which went straight at the keeper. Smart with a strong run to the edge of the box where he was taken down, Cooper wasted the free kick firing high. At the other end Hester headed wide from a corner. Smith should have given the home side the lead but his lob over Fyfe went just wide of the goals. Fyfe was in action getting down low to his right to make a smart save. A good move involving Thomson and a one two by Smart and Mair saw the latter shot deflected into side netting. The home side went in front on 43 mins when a corner was punched clear by keeper Fyfe out for a corner which Montrose went to take when the match official pointed to the spot for a penalty with both sides looking mystified. Hester sent Fyfe the wrong way to score. Maud broke upfield and Lawson did well on the right and his cross was fired in by Smart to level.

HT 1–1

Montrose broke from the restart and Clark fouled the striker inside the box resulting in another penalty which once more Hester tucked away for Montrose to lead again. Fyfe then made a superb save tipping the ball on to the crossbar preventing Hester getting his hatrick. The home keeper made a save from a Header from Smart palming it out for a corner which was easily cleared. Good defending by Clark prevented Montrose getting a third goal. Maud were reduced to 10 men after the Linesman was seen waving his flag alerting the referee to sent Whyte off. Last chance of the game fell to the home side, but the winger fired wide with the goal gapping. This was another good performance by Maud who deserved a something from the game but didn't get the rub of the green and with quite a few strange decisions the match official didn't help the cause. Maud next fixture is on Saturday 8 December home v Colony Park in the Superleague with a 1.30pm ko
