Maud faced Kerriemuir Thistle as opponents, and it was 3rd time lucky getting the game played du to adverse weather conditions. Maud started well but failed to create a real chance but at the other end it was a different story when Kerrie went ahead from a corner which Ritchie made a good save but rebounded to Kadela to tap home. The away side doubled their lead when a through ball to Reid who rounded Ritchie to and fired into an empty net. Maud tried to rally but their passing was not crisp enough and were failing to find their men. A break by Kirrie on the right and a cross was met by Reid who shot wide from 6 yards.

HT 0 – 2

The second half started with Maud needing a quick start, but it was Kirrie who made it 3 with a rasping shot by Reid from the edge of the box into the top corner. Maud’s best chance came from Quantrill who drove to the edge of the box before bringing a save from the Kerrie Keeper. Play went from end to end but both sides were cancelling each other out. Ritchie and Thomson combined to play Chicken down the line, but his cross was too heavy, and the chance was gone. Worse was to come as home striker Moir went off injured with a suspected broken elbow. Maud found it hard to break down the Kerrie defence who played very well. Maud battled better in the second half, but they go out in the second round. We wish Kerriemuir all the best in the next round. Maud are at home next Saturday 19 October in the McBookie.Com Superleague against Nairn st Nairn with a 2pm ko
