Maud travelled to face Hall Russell United in a League game on a very windy day. The home side got off to a perfect start going ahead in the second minute of the game when Davidson slotted home after a fine through ball from Mackie. A fine run by Davidson was stopped with fine tackle by Thornton preventing anther goal. From a corner Mackie could only fire high from 8 yards. Good run on the right by Sargent and his cut back found Sim but his shot went wide. Whyte came to the Maud rescue with an important block inside the box after a mad scramble. Hay added a second goal for the home side after he connected from a MacDonald cross. Last action of the first half saw United add a third when Mackie drove a free kick on the edge of the Maud box into the corner of the net.
HT 3 – 0.
A long ball forward from keeper Fyfe was just too hard for Smart to get on the end of. Another long ball was headed on by Smart and it needed tipped onto the bar and out for a corner which was eventually cleared up field by Russell. Mackie went close with his header from a Hay corner. Fyfe was in action making a good save from a Mackie free kick. A hall cross was controlled and cut back by Duguid to Sim who couldn’t keep his header on target. Good hold up play by Sargent who fed Duguid but his shot was straight at Carrol in the home goals. This was a poor performance by Maud which After losing an early goal Maud never threatened the home goal throughout the game and ended up coming away with nothing.
Maud next fixture is on Saturday10 November home v Dyce Juniors in the McBookie.com Superleague with a 2pm ko.
