Maud: Stephen, Stewart, Whyte, Gill, Lawson, Crisp, Wilson, Thomson, Hale, Fowlie, Smart

Maud travelled to face Hermes in a league match. Lawson went close with a header from a Wilson corner. At the other end Maud had a let off when Stevenson header came back off his own player inside the 6-yard box. The home side went in front when Smith was played through the Maud defence and he slotted past the out coming Stephen. A poor kick out by Stephen needed a timely tackle to prevent Smith getting his shot away inside the box. Maud keeper then made a brilliant save from a header by Stevenson and Smith tapped home the rebound but it was disallowed by the Ref. A Maud attack ended with Fowlie fouled inside the box resulting in a penalty. A poor effort by Smart was saved by Sweeney. A quick corner from Wilson to Hale at the edge of the box and his shot rebounded off the home defence back to Hale whose shot found the bottom right corner to level the game. Hermes went close when a Cairns shot was deflected for a corner and from the resulting corner a lee Smith header was inches past the post. HT 1 – 1
Stephen in the away goals kept the score level with two fine saves from Smith then at the feet of Strachan. Collinson did well on the right and Stephen had to be brave to gather at the inrushing striker Smith. Hermes broke upfield and earned themselves a corner. Alexander corner was me by Lee smith whose volley flew past the away keeper to put Hermes in front. Maud reacted and a long ball forward was headed on by Smart and Hale ran through and fired home his second goal of the game. The home side should have gone ahead once more but Smith could only hit the bar when it looked like easier to scorer from inside the 6-yard box. The visitor’s keeper Stephen had 3 fine saves in a row to keep the game level. As time was running out Maud broke on the right and as Fowlie ran through he tried to lob Sweeney in the home goals but the big keeper was at full stretch to save.
