Maud 3 - 7 Hermes

McBookie North Superleague

10th March 2018

Maud Junior Football Club

Maud had Hermes in a league game and the visitors started the stronger team and wasted a good chance with the centre back scooping over the bar from 6 yards. Bremner got into a good position on the wing but the final ball was poor. A long ball from keeper Sweeney went over the Maud defence and as Fyfe came out Dawson slotted the ball past him to open the scoring. A quick break upfield and a first time cross was met by the unmarked Courage to fire home. Duguid and Norris combined but the latter crossed the ball across goal when a shot on target was maybe the better option.  A ball through the middle of the home defence was latched on to by Dawson who rounded Fyfe and strike into an empty net for the away side’s third of the day. HT 0 – 3

Maud made a better start to the second half and reduced the lead to two when Bremner finished clinically from 12 yards. Sweeney in the visitor’s goal made 2 fine saves in quick succession. The away side extended their lead again when a shot by Innes beat Fyfe at his near post. A ball into the box was finished well by Thomson but a minute later Hermes scored again through Courage. Again, Maud reduced the score when substitute Smart netted. A free kick was miss judged by Fyfe which left Dawson a header to get his hatrick. A shot by Courage came crashing back off the crossbar then from a corner Hale cleared off the goal line. Hermes ended the match scoring a seventh with Courage getting his hatrick.                          FT 3 – 7

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 17 March home against Montrose Roselea in the PMAC Group McLeman Cup with a 2pm ko
