Maud welcomed Harthill Royal in a 2nd rd tie and Smart gave an early indication what was to come with his fierce shot was parried clear by Grier in the away goals. The visitors went in front on their first attack with the home defence failing to clear Johnstone stabbed the ball home from close. Bonnes brought a fine save from Fyfe. God work by Manager Hale on the left going past defender and cut back for Cooper to slide home. On 30 mins the home side struck again with a good move ending with a Smart ball into the box where Coper was on hand to score. McAllister tied a shot from 25 yards but it was straight at Fyfe. Just on half time Maud went further in front when Gill played a ball to Cooper and his dangerous cross was deflected into his own net by Ballie.

HT 3 - 1

The visitors came out battling and Fyfe did well to punch clear a shot from Richford. Maud had the ball in the net but after a long discussion between Lineman and referee, the goal was disallowed. Maud’s next attack brought goal number 4 when Smart fired home from a cross from Cooper. The same two players combined to net number 5 with Smart’s cross was slotted home by Cooper to net his hatrick. Richford beat the offside trap and he calmly rounded Fyfe and fire into an empty net. Grier made a brilliant save from a Cooper header. The away side were awarded a penalty after Lawson handballed inside the box. Richford slotted home to end the scoring. This was a fine performance by the home side getting them through to the 3rd round.

Maud next match is away against Dyce on Saturday 4 November with a 2pm ko in the Superleague.
