North Superleague

25th February 2017

Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Hall, Crisp, Lawson, Simpson, Wilson, Thomson, Smart, Ritchie, Duguid,

Subs: McDonald, Reid, Allsop, Trialist

Maud travelled to face Hall Russell United in a league game and once more were struggling with a host of injuries. The home side started the better but they needed a clearance by Goodwin after a mad scramble inside the home box then Duguid went close from a Wilson cross. Fyfe did well to tip a free kick over the bar from Mackie. From the resulting corner Esslement shot wen inches past the post. The home side went in front from a Davidson corner Whitfield was first to react to fire home. Soon it was 2 nil as a Davidson shot from out on the right dipped over Fyfe into the net. Last action of the first half ended with a Davidson cross being side footed by Hay.

HT 3– 0

Lawson went close with a header from a Hall free kick then Ritchie had a shot deflected wide for a corner which was easily cleared. The home side were then awarded a penalty which even the home side players were mystified with the referee's decision. Esslement slotted home number four. Maud were then reduced to 10 men after Lawson was shown a second yellow, another strange decision. At the other end Maud were awarded a penalty which the lineman gave. Summer's made a fine save from a Duguid pen. United ended the scoring when Wallace set up Esslement with an easy finish.

This was a very poor performance from Maud who were totally outplayed throughout the game. They will need a vast improvement when the face promotion favourites Banks o Dee next week.

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 4 March home to Banks O Dee in the Super League with a 2.00pm KO
