8th April 2017
Fyfe, Whyte, Sculley, Simpson, Lawson Crisp, Wilson, Thomson, Smart, Ritchie, Smith
Subs, Reid, Downie, McDonald, Allsop
Maud had League leaders Dyce as visitors in a league match and Napier went down inside the box but his penalty claim was waived aside. Maud then got on top with a Lawson header going close then the same player header over from a Wilson free kick. Maud thought they had taken the lead when a Lawson powerful header found the net only to be ruled out for a foul. A Smith shot was lashed wildly over the bar. Maud went in front when a Crisp flicked the ball on and a first time shot from Smart beat the diving keeper. At the other end Fyfe made a smart save from a Napier shot. Crisp should have doubled the home lead but his soft shot was saved then a Smith shot was blocked on the goal line. On the break a long ball forward to Napier who ran in on goal and his shot from a tight angle found the net. Just before the interval Maud regained the lead when a Wilson corner to the front post was met aby Lawson whose header found the net.
HT 2 - 1
A few minutes into the second half after a bad clash the home side centre half Lawson was knocked on conscious and had to be replaced by Downie. Smith did well on the left and sent in a dangerous cross along the 6 yard box but there were no takers in the middle. Dyce drew level when Bartlet drove past 2 defenders and slotted home to level the game. Substitute McAllistair went close with a first time shot. Maud came close to going in front with a Smith free kick from the edge of the box came crashing back off the bar and then he had another sight of the goal with the away keeper making a fine stop with his legs. Dyce came close with a McAllister shot coming back off the post but then the away side scored the winner with a fine taken goal from Bartlett.
This was a game that the home side deserved at least a point. Missed chances in the first half cost Maud. The match turned when Lawson had to go off injured but it was a great effort from the home side.
Mauds next game is at home on Sat 15 April against Inverness City in the McBookie.com Superleague with a 2 pm KO
