Maud had league leaders Deveronside who had won all 4 league games this season so far. An early chance saw Chicken fire a free kick high over the bar. Young keeper Cowie made a fine save from a Blackhall shot. From the resulting corner Blackhall found a pocket of space inside the Maud bow to strike home. It was no surprise when a second goal arrived this time McKinnon was found unmarked at the back post to net. Maud got one back when Quantrill drilled home after some good work on the left from Joji. Blackhall drilled a great ball across the home 6-yard box but found no takers in the middle. HT 1 - 2
The second half started and joji tested Mackie who brought off a fine save. From then on it turned bad for the home side, McKinnon made it 3 -1 after they were awarded a soft penalty by match official Smith. Blackhall then made it 4-1 to the visitors when he drove past the Maud defence and stroked it under Keeper Cowie. From the left Jess drove to the bye line and crossed for the unmarked Watt who should have scored but somehow managed to head wide from 6 yards. Maud went close hitting the bar from a Robertson cross with McKinnon Beaton Legg finished the scoring converting a simple finish to round off the scoring. This was a poor performance by Maud but a well-deserved win for Side.
Maud next game is against Banks o Dee on Wednesday 25 September in the Quest Engineering Inter Regional Cup first round 7.30pm ko
