Maud travelled to face Deveronside n a vital league game. Maud were playing with a strong wind in the first half and Wilson brought a fine save from the home side keeper McLeay. Maud earned a few corners in which Lawson saw his headers twice blocked on the goal line. A long ball forward caught out Maud and Wojcik wasted a good chance when he fired wide from 8 yards. Thomson tried a volley from the edge of the box which was only inches wide. Thomson again combined with Duguid but failed to hit the target then a Duguid shot was parried by McLeay. A fine move by Maud ended with Mcleay saving with his feet from a shot by Smith. A Lawson header was again saved by the home side keeper. Before half time Thomson saw his strike cleared off the line then Duguid and Ritchie both hit the woodwork.

HT 0 - 0

Buchan tried a shot from distance but it was straight at Fyfe who held well. The visitor’s went in front against the run of play when a Fyfe clearance was miss controlled by Wilson and it gave Thomson a free shot on goal and he managed to loop the ball over Fyfe from 35 yards into the net.  Maud hit back and Wilson should have drawn the away side level but somehow he managed to fire past the post from six yards from a great Sculley cross. The away side did get back on terms when Ritchie laid off to Wilson and he lashed home from a tight angle. Duguid went close with a curling shot from the edge of the box. Fyfe made a fine stop from a shot by Sopel. Maud took the lead when Smart was brought down inside the penalty box and Duguid calmly slotted the pen home. In injury time Duguid was played through on goal but with only the keeper to beat he fired past the post.

This was a game that the away side deserved to win but with stand in Keeper McLeay in brilliant form along with Maud rattling the woodwork twice and 4 goal line clearances kept the game close.  Maud’s next game is at home on Sat 29 April against Banks o Dee in the McBookie.com Superleague with a 2 pm KO
