Maud travelled to face Culter in a league match and the away side started brightly and a snap shot Sergant went close when his shot from edge of the box hit the post and out for a corner which came to nothing. Bremner and Sargent combined but the latter’s shot was deflected wide. Against the run of play the home side broke and Stewart squared the ball to Whelan drove the ball home. The same two combined but Fyfe made a fine save. A long ball over the Maud defence was pounced onto by Whelan who tried to lob Fyffe but made a hash of it and the chance was gone. Maud were very unlucky not to level the game when a Gill shot hit the underside of the bar and back out as far as Bremner whose shot was brilliantly saved by Duncan in the home goals.

  HT 1 – 0.

A fierce strike from Sargant was palmed away by Duncan and out for a corner which was over hit and wasteful. A break upfield found Horne whose shot was well saved by Fyfe. A great ball in along the 6 yard box but there were no takers in the middle. At the other end Stewart drove at the Maud defence by Clark was strong to block and clear upfield. Bremner had a chance at the back post but poor control and fired high over the bar. Whelan tried a shot from 18 yards which curled outwards and just past the post. Culter on the attack down the left and a rash tackle from the Maud defender resulted in a penalty. Horne stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to double the home side lead. Maud tried in vain to get something from the game but on the day fell just short.                          FT 2 –0

Maud next fixture is on Tuesday 8 May Home v NewBurgh Thistle in the Superleague with a 7.30 pm ko.
