Culter 6 - 3 Maud
GA Engineering Cup
5th November 2016
Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Reid, Crisp, Lawson, Thomson, Wilson, Ritchie, Duguid, Smart, Davidson
Subs: Still, Scully, Smith Downie, Falconer
Maud started the match well and Smart should have done better with his header from a Thomson cross. The away side went in front when a Duguid shot was deflected over Buchanan in the home goals. A minute later it was all square when McKechnie was given a free shot from the edge of the box which found the corner of the net. Anderson went close with a header from 6 yards. From a free kick Anderson out jumped Lawson and his looping header found the top corner to give the home side the lead. Fyfe made a good save from a Stewart header. From a McKechnie corner Fyfe tried to punch clear under pressure but punched into his own goals. Anderson rounded Fyfe but shot wide with the goals gapping. Culter scored a fourth after a mix up in the Maud defence let in Anderson to get an easy goal.
HT 4 - 1
Maud started the second half and Wilson pulled a goal back when he lashed in from six yards. McGregor brought a fine save from Fyfe. A Duguid shot tested Buchannan the away side earned a penalty. Duguid sent the keeper the wrong way to get within one goal of Culter. Poor defending again by the Maud defence letting Anderson stroll into the box past 3 defenders and fire home. Smith fired wide after being set up by Duguid. Buchanan got down low to his right to save at the second attempt from a Duguid shot. The home side added a sixth goal before the end when Anderson grabbed his fourth of the game when he combined with Horne.
FT 6 – 3
This was a poor performance from the away side who made far too many mistakes throughout the game and were punished by Culter who ran out comfortable winners.
Maud next fixture is on Saturday 12 November at home against Islavale in the Dominos Pizza North Regional Cup with a 2pm ko
