As there were no highlights, due to technical issues, of our 4-0 home defeat to Colony Park on Saturday we caught up with manager Allan Hale who gave us his thoughts on the match “There is no getting away from the fact that it was a bitterly disappointing day for the club. Leading up to the match we had been in good form and unbeaten in our previous four matches with the players playing with confidence and it was no coincidence results had been positive as a result so Gavin and I are still struggling to work out as to how we were so poor today. Yes, we made a few changes to the side (that beat Ellon on Tuesday) but I don’t think that had any bearing at all on how the match played itself out, as the starting eleven was arguably just as strong as it was on the Tuesday. We simply failed to do the basics well enough within the match; being careless in our build up, conceding possession cheaply, being static in terms of our movement with and without the ball, lacked a competitive edge whilst our shape was completely disjointed and in truth it was a very lethargic performance from us. I have no complaints about the result, the hungrier side won the game. I guess the frustrating thing from our perspective is that we haven’t made Colony work for their goals, Colony would agree on that point – that we absolutely gifted them four goals, they were embarrassing goals to concede. When you defend the way we have as a team today then you don’t deserve anything from the game so we got what we deserved and we need to accept that when you have 90% of your players play to a 3/10 then you won’t win the game. It’s not the first time we have suffered a poor result and performance this season and we trust that the players will bounce back as they have done throughout the course of the season. We have a semi-final to look forward to in the coming weeks and we will continue to rotate the squad in order to provide the players with an opportunity to play their way into the starting eleven for that game so in that respect there is still plenty for the players to focus on and fight for throughout the remainder of the campaign.
