Maud Junior Football Club
Maud: Grant, Anderson, Whyte, Lawson, Crisp, Thomson, Cooper, Fowlie, Grant, Norris Hale
Subs: Gill, Stuart, Grant, Ritchie, Downie
Maud travelled to face Colony Park in their final Group game knowing they required a draw to go through to the last 8. Hale sent a dangerous cross along the six yard box but there were no takers in the middle. A good move by the away side ended with a shot from Fowlie which home keeper Grant did well to turn round the post. Good defending by Lawson making a fine block as Jack Strachan was about to shoot inside the box. The away keeper Grant was alert as a free kick went through a ruck of players and he did well to react quickly to turn the ball round the post. A Norris corner was headed back across goal by Crisp to Thomson whose header was cleared off the line. The injured Norris then had to be substituted after a rash tackle.
HT 0 – 0
In the second half Maud started well with Fowlie crossing for Thomson to head but Grant did well to claw the header away to safety. Maud were then awarded a penalty after manager Hale was fouled inside the box resulting in Bissett being sent off. Hale stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to give Maud the lead. Courtney Cooper doubled the away side lead when his 25 yard rocket of a shot flew past the diving Grant. From a free kick Ethan Grant was left unmarked at the back post to fire home goal number 3. Grant Thomson then had to be carried off after a late and dangerous tackle. The last goal off the game was a fine move by Maud started in their own half when Cooper sending a long cross ball to Hale on the left who crossed first time and Grant was on hand to score. After a sticky first half Maud ran out comfortable winners.
Maud are now at away against Ellon United on Saturday in the McBookie.com Superleague 2pm ko.
