Maud: Finn, Sculley, Reid, Lawson, Simpson, Wilson, Davidson Smart, Ritchie, Smith

Maud travelled to face Burghead in a first round tie and it was the visitors who created the first chance but Simpson could only head straight at Robertson from a Smith cross. Smith again did well on the left creating a chance for Smart whose header went wide. Ritchie latched on to a Smith through ball but dragged his shot wide. At the other end Mellis did well to get a shot on target but it was easily saved. Maud went in front when Smith was fouled inside the box and Smart's penalty found the bottom corner.     Mellis created a good chance for Robertson but the striker blazed high from a good position. A min before half time Maud doubled their lead when Lawson headed home from a Wilson free kick.                    HT 0 – 2

Into the second half and Smart came close to scoring from a Scully cross. More tried a shot from distance but it didn't trouble Flinn. Play went from end to end but both sides were failing with their final passes. The home side were gifted a goal after a mix up in the Maud defence between Simpson and Lawson let in Davidson to score. This gave the home side a lift and Wood should have done better from a Davidson cross to the back post. Maud regained their two goal lead when a ball into the box was flicked on by Lawson and Simpson was on hand to fire past the diving Robertson. Smart challenged Robertson in the home goal and the ball fell to Downie whose shot was blocked on the line. In the last minute Maud got a fourth when Smart was fouled inside the box and the striker got up to send the keeper the wrong way.

This was a rather flattering score line for the away side as the home side put up a good showing. Maud will have to improve their performance for next week's visit of Culter in the league.
