Maud 1 - 6 Bridge of Don Thistle

McBookie Superleague

20th October 2018

Maud Junior Football Club

Maud: Fyfe, Whyte, Kinsella, Thomson, Clark, Grant, Sim, Conway, Smart, Norris Hale,

Subs: Ritchie

Maud had only 12 players available when they entertained Bridge of Don Thistle in a league game. Maud first attack saw them go in front when a 20-yard shot from Jack Sim find the net with the help of the away keeper who was hampered by a strong sun. A speculate shot by Hale was straight at Craig. Sim had a chance but could only head it wide from a Norris cross. A Muirhead header from an Alexander cross was well saved by Fyfe in the home goal. A free kick on the edge of the Maud 18-yard box was wasted by Cameron firing high over the bar. Fyfe was quick off his line to save at the feet of Alexander after he was played in by Rennie.

  HT 1 - 0

The away side started the second half on the front foot when Muirhead played a great ball into Cameron, but Fyfe was quick off his line to block. A long ball forward by Goal keeper went all the through to unmarked Muirhead who finished well. From a corner the ball fell to centre half Wilson 12 yards out and he finished clinically. Good work by Smart on the right and his cut back fell to Conway but he could only strike it straight at keeper Clark. Craig set up Cameron for an easy finish to make it 3 – 1. Craig added a fourth after being played clear of the Maud defence he rounded Fyfe to tap into an empty net. Muirhead headed in number 6 from a cross from Craig then Alexander added a sixth for the away side from an Alexander corner. After a reasonable first half Maud collapsed in the second and were outplayed by Thistle.
