Maud had Banks O Dee as opposition in a league match and the away side had 2 quick shots on target but Stephen dealt with them comfortably. Dee attacked down the right and a Shrive cross was met at the back post by the unmarked Philipson to score the opening goal. Good play by Fowlie combining with Smart whose shot was saved at his near post by Shearer at the expense of a corner which was missed by everyone going out for a goal kick. On 40 minutes the away side were given a Penalty with what looked a like a good tackle by Gill. Ex Maud player Luke Barbour converted the penalty sending the keeper the wrong way. Just before half time Smart was played in on goal and only a last ditch tackle by Allan prevented the striker getting his shot away.

HT 0 – 2

Maud started the second half well and Mair went close with a drive from 20 yards. A Hale corner to the back post where crisp headed back across goal where Fowlie saw his header came back off the woodwork. Allan wasted a good chance for the visitors when he blazed high from 6 yards after good build up play by Barbour. Fowlie combined with Gill who fed Duiguid inside the box and the striker was unlucky when his shot hit the post and then rolled along the goal line and back off the other post. Philipson cut in from the left and lashed the ball past Stephen to make it 3 nil for Dee. Maud pulled a goal back when a ball in from Duguid and a first time shot found the corner of the net. Maud were then reduced to 10 men after Duguid was red carded, A Hale free kick went right through the Dee defence and crept in at the far post to reduce the lead to one. The home side were then reduced to 9 men after Thomson was shown a second caution.

FT 2 - 3

Maud must feel unlucky at getting nothing from this game as they battled well throughout the game. On another day decisions might have gone their way. Maud are now away against Colony Park on Saturday 26 August in the Grill league cup with a 2pm ko
