Maud travelled to face Banchory St Ternan in a league match. Maud had the better of the early exchanges. A Sargent header was well wide then he tried a shot from distance and again was off target. Banchory’s first attack brought them the lead after Binnie broke on the left and cut in and stoked the ball past the out-rushing Fyfe. Duguid brought a fine save from Morrison in the home goal. Play went from end to end but neither team creating a chance. Maud came on strong towards the end of the first half and a good move from the visitors ended with a Sargent cross just too hard for the inrushing Duguid to get the end of.

HT 1– 0

Maud started the second half with Sargent playing in Duguid who cut in from the right but couldn’t keep his shot on target. Cooper tried a shot from distance but well over the bar. Morrison saved at the second attempt from a Duguid drive. A Cheyne free kick was too straight, and Fyfe held comfortably. Maud made 3 changes in quick succession with new signing Bremner and Norris followed by Hale replacing Mair, Grant and Stuart. This gave the visitors a lift and were soon back on level terms with a brilliant strike by Bremner which flew past Morrison. Minutes later and the away side took the lead with a left foot shot from Sargent into the bottom corner. Maud had hitman Duguid leading the line and he sealed the points when he cut in from the left holding off the defender and poking the ball past Morrison. The striker got his second and Maud’s fourth goal after he headed in a cross from Norris.

FT 1 – 4

Maud next fixture is on Saturday 10 February home against Montrose Roselea in the 1st rd of the McLeman Cup 2pm ko.
